Combining Tools And Data On Computers

Computer is a special type of tool that allows to combine one or multiple private tools (which may be arbitrary MCP tools or special tools provided by TaskLift such as command line or code interpreter) as well as one or multiple Drive tools in order to allow AI to perform arbitrary operations on a machine hosted by us with hardware (such as RAM) of your choice.

In order to get started with computers, navigate to the Tools section and create a new Computer tool by picking the desired hardware and tools.

From that point on, you may:

• check out its combined capabilities - via the Capabilities tab on its page
• list all of its currently running instances - via the Instances tab on its page
• browse all drives attached to it - via the Drives tab on its page
• pick it for chats and assistants just like any other tool - via the Tools selector

TaskLift starts a fresh instance of a computer whenever you use it and stops it after a few minutes of inactivity so that you only use credits whenever it's really used. This also means that all the data on the computer except for attached drives goes away whenever the computer instance is started fresh. This is why we allow to attach drives to computers in order to facilitate working with persistent data.
